Texting and driving has become a very serious problem through out the world. 34 % of teenagers say they have texted while driving. 52 % of teenagers say they have talked on a cell phone while driving. 82 % of Americans between the age of 16-17 own a cell phone. That is a very high percentage of teens with cell phones. Not to mention, that is only ages 16-17, and it is only in America. Just imagine how many other people text and drive all around the world.
Just from the percentages we have showed you, you can see that texting and driving has become a common thing for people that drive and own cell phones.
Teenagers ages 18-20 tend to text and drive because of over confidence. What we mean by that is, they think they are better drivers than adults but meanwhile they still get into car accidents. Academic studies have showed that when you are texting and driving, you are pretty much impaired. Scientists have decided to compare the effect between drunk driving, and texting and driving and it has a very similar effect.
